Whilst on the coast music enthusiasts have Jazz en la Costa in Almuñécar, there is also a Jazz festival in in the middle of a desert in north-eastern Granada.
The plateau or altiplano of Granada is where the badlands are and in the middle of it is the village of Galera where they will hosting this cultural event from the 11th to the 13th of July.

Admittedly, Galera, with its population of 1,116 is a fair distance from the Costa Tropical, as it is at the very top of the province’s ‘pan handle,’ in the Comarca de Huéscar, but it’s a great opportunity to explore this area of the province.
The area is made up of places as varied as a fertile valley, irrigated by rivers and springs, and the semi-arid and empty landscapes of the badlands, so yes, there is variety to the landscape. In fact, during the Muslim occupation, they even produced silk in Galera.
