Irresponsibly Parked

When somebody leaves their car badly parked, it can be annoying but what if it blocks the road for an ambulance on an emergency? That's what happened in Granada on Monday.

The Emergency Coordination Centre received a call to say that a 9-year-old boy was in need of medical attention and immediately despatched an ambulance to the address given, which was a school.

The problem was that there was a badly parked car left in such a way en route that the ambulance couldn’t get passed it. This happened on Calle San Gregorio Alto in Granada, some 100 metres from the Colegio Divino Maestro

After waiting all that they dared for the driver to turn up, they decided to run with all the kit that they might need, “A hundred metres isn’t very far but with all the equipment that might be needed, it is,” explained the Municipal Police, who had been called out about the car, adding, “if the paramedics had needed to return to the ambulance for something…”

All ended well because the boy could be treated on the spot with what they had on them and child did not need transfer to a medical facility.

Readers’ will be glad to learn that the car was towed away to the municipal vehicle compound.
