An 11-year-old boy died from electrocution after climbing up an HT electricity pylon in Usurbil (Guipúzoa) on Saturday the 8th of March,
The boy succumbed to his extensive burns yesterday in the ICU of Hospital de Cruces. Eyewitness accounts says that they saw the child in flames.

The incident took place in the Osinalde Trading Estate when the boy, who was accompanied by his 15-year-old female cousin, decided to climb the structure, after having jumped over the fence around the pylon.
The cousins had left the restaurant where their grandparents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. It was around 18.10h when they both began to climb up the pylon, which is about 300 metres from the restaurant.
The boy managed to reach a platform while his cousin was further down when he received the electrical discharge which resulted in a loud bang and a flash of light, leaving the surrounding area without electricity.
He received serious electrical burns all over this body.
Although the fire service, police and an ambulance were at the scene within minutes, they had to wait for the plyon to be disconnected from its source by workers belonging to Iberdrola. This meant that the badly injured boy was on the platform for nearly an hour.
Both the boy and the girl were taken to hospital, where the boy spent the night before being transferred to the Grandes Quemados del Hospital de Cruces, which specilises in burns. He died, yesterday at 21.00h.
The incident also resulted in three other people being injured; the elder brother of the victim, who had gone to his aid and two other adults who all tried to help the boy.
