A group of local women in Gualchos-Castell de Ferro have knocked out between them a crochet Christmas Tree, which now adorns the town's seafront square.
The 34 women, who belong to the Asociación de Mujeres Albahaca, took three months, meeting twice a week, to produce enough crochet designs to cover the tree frame.
Put another way, they put in 2,500 hours of crocheting to create, 1,000 different sections of varying designs.
The necessary wool was provided by the Town Hall and the Mayor, Toñi Antequera, took the opportunity during its presentation to thank the Asociación de Mujeres Albahaca.
“This tree not only embellishes our square during these days of Christmas, but also represents the spirit of working together, creativity and committment that is characteristic of our town,” she said, adding, “Thank you for this gift; a work of Art, and thus making Gualchos-Castell de Ferro more special.”
