Promises Promises?

The president of the Diputación de Granada, Francis Rodríguez, has presented an ambitious budget for 2025 amounting to 418 million euros, which marks a milestone in the history of the institution.

This plan stands out for its focus on social inclusion and the promotion of strategic projects in the province, seeking to improve the quality of life of citizens and promote economic growth in all regions.

The main lines of investment include 10.2-million euros for water policies, a significant allocation for efficient water management, and 9.5-million euros earmarked for improving and maintaining provincial roads. One of the projects highlighted is the study for the widening of the road connecting Ogíjares with the Parque Tecnológico de la Salud.

In addition, the budget proposes new services and aid, such as the Cheque Bebé of 1,000 euros for families in depopulated municipalities, and efforts to create inclusive beaches, as well as a new Women’s Information Unit, which will address issues of equality and gender violence.

The plan also includes a strong commitment to culture and sport, with an allocation of 500,000 euros for events related to Los Goya and an investment to improve sports infrastructures. In the area of employment, 4-million euros will be allocated, including support for young entrepreneurs.

The debate for the approval of these accounts will take place next week, which will allow them to come into force on 1st January 2025, marking a new beginning for the management of the Diputación de Granada after years in which this process was not carried out on time.
