In the early hours of yesterday, seven cars parked on Calle Del Río, near the Bus Station, went up in flames.
The amount of smoke and noise caused quite a stir amongst nearby residents, so within a short time the first call to the Emergency Call Centre, 112, came in at 05.30h.

Three cars were completely burnt out and four were partially damaged. The rapid response from the Vélez-Málaga Fire Department prevented the fire spreading further to other cars parked alongside.

The Vélez-Málaga, Policía Local were also called out so that they could control the little traffic that was around at that time, so as not to hamper the task of the fire personnel.
It was not necessary to evacuate nearby buildings.
