A 70-year-old man had to be rescued yesterday after his car crashed down a barranco, some 20 metres deep within the municipality of Güéjar-Sierra.
This accident occurred just before 13.25h, which is when the victim phoned 112 to explain what had happened to him and where, which is in the area of the municipality known as the Acequia de La Solana, when he had been heading towards Collado del Alguacil.
Eyewitnesses to the accident and locals who heard the commotion of the car falling and the driver’s cries for assistance, helped to get him back up to road level using a rope.
The emergency coordination centre despatched the Guardia Civil, the Policía Local and an ambulance to the scene of the accident, with the latter taking him to Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in Granada to be treated for his injuries.
