The two over-all winners of the La Herradura Bay swimming competition this year were Jesús Hurtado Cuesta (Club Natación Churriana) and Silvia Molina Gómez (Club Natación Las Gabias).
For the last two years, the competition had to be cancelled because of the weather; i.e., the sea state, so there was plenty of anticipation for the 2024 event.
Over 300 swimmers participated, men and women, in categories that went from Infantil all the way up to Masters 60.
The event is the penultimate race within the provincial tournament, Nado 2024, which is held on the coast and on reservoirs.
The La Herradura competition had the collaboration of the Town Hall and the Asociación Amigos de La Herradura, as well as the very necessary participation of Protección Civil.
The over-all, male champion, Jesus Hurtado, completed the course in 27 minutes, swimming from west to east the total distance of 1,500 metres, with the starting line at Peña Parda and the finishing line on La Caleta beach.
The over-all female champion, Silvia Molina Gómez, covered the distance in 29 minutes.
The competition began with the youngest competitors who had to cover the distance of 500 metres between Náutica Dani’s and La Caleta, with Manuel López Muñoz (CN Churriana) and Claudia Repiso Morales (CD Universidad Granada) taking the podium.
