Help Needed Urgently

Salobreña Town hall, in collaboration with SOS Animales Salobreña, has begun a campaign for the donation and collection of dog & cat food to cover the needs of the 250 animals in their care.

Summer is always a bad time because it’s also the time of the year when most pets are abandoned. The animal protection association has also suffered recently a loss with the death of one of their very popular volunteers, Gerson.

For these reasons, the Town Hall is urgently calling for a show of solidarity from the citizens of Salobreña by contributing animal feed or any other material that could be of use to SOS Animales Salobreña

Councillor Ángela Rodríguez, who is coordinating this campaign, pointed out that with this increase in the number of abandoned pets, there is a greater demand on volunteers and resources.

The fact is that the facilities is close to collapse not only because of the influx, but because the centre is not the ideal place for a 2-month-old pup, for example, so temporary, foster accommodation is needed, too.

If you wish to make a donation of foodstuffs, this can be done through the Área (Department) de Medio Ambiente at the Town Hall between 09.00h to 13.30h, as well as at the Casa de la Cultura de La Caleta between 11.00h and 14.00h. Given the necessity behind this campaign, there is no shut off date for donations.
