A man has been arrested for fondling a young woman's buttocks whilst she was waiting for a taxi. surpisingly, it was an off duty police officer.

The incident took place outside a fairground in Cortijo de Torres, which is a barrio of the city of Málaga in the early hours of the 18th.

A passerby, who had witnessws this unwelcome attention from the man, told a Policía Local patrol who were policing the feria what had happened at the Avenida José Ortega y Gasset taxi rank.

The immediately went to the scene of the incident and spoke with the victim, who confirmed that a young man had grabbed her bottom, which was corraborated by the eyewitness. The suspect was still close to hand and was subsequently arrested after he had his rights read out to him.

The off-duty Guardia Civil officer, who is not from Málaga, was taken to the police station, where he was booked ready to appear before a magistrate, which he did. He was released pending trial facing charges of sexual aggression.

It trial could have been fast tracked but the defence disagreed so the trial will probably be held some months later in the Málaga Provincial Lawcourts.

Editorial comment: there was not mention in the press release of his being suspended in the meantime.
