It appears that several magazines, both national and international, have classified Playa de la Rijana (Gualchos-Castell de Ferro) as one of the best in Spain.
They have reached this conclusion by evaluating the water quality, the care taken of the beach & its surroundings, and the general peace that reigns there, far removed in this way from the heaving beaches of La Herradura, Almuñécar, Salobreña, Motril and Torrenueva Costa.
National Geographic, Traveler, El Economista and El Español are just some of the publications that sing its praises.
The Mayor of Gualchos-Castell de Ferro, Toñi Antequera, said, “this confirms what we already knew; we have a natural treasure in the form of La Rijana,” adding, “As well as promoting the beach as a torusim asset, we have the responsibility, along with other administrations, to protect and look after it.”
She concluded by pointing out that looking after La Rijana, as well as the rest of the municipal beaches, is a year-round task and responsibility.
