Río Chíllar Remains Closed

Here we are at the beginning of June with temperatures that are reaching mid summer levels and Río Chíllar is still not open to the general public.

AXA NRJ Entrance to Rio ChillarNerja Town Hall closed the area off due to overcrowding issues (around 3,000 people per day) in August last year and since then there has been no vehicle access from the road barrier at the entrance to the old Frigiliana quarry.

The Junta de Andalucía is dragging its feet and still hasn’t completed the paper shuffling for the bureaucratic process that started in December to select a company to run it.

There are three companies that are interested, Hermanos Campano SL, Nerja’s Viajes Verano Azul SL and Construcciones Sánchez Domínguez (Sando) from Málaga, all of whom have presented projects.

All three have proposed different entry prices, ranging from 5.8 euros plus IVA to 12 euros with IVA included: Sando SA  proposed 5.8 euros plus IVA, Viajes Verano Azul SL put forward between five and 12 euros with IVA included and lastly, Hermanos Campano SL proposes 10 euros with IVA included.
