If you want to sample great food and walks then you really need to visit Los Naranjos in the village of Melegís in the Valle de Lecrín

You can pop up for the day for lunch and a walk, or you can stay in one of their excellent rooms or the rural house.

Founded in 1988, this family-run business is in the heart of the valley, surrounded by citrous plantations and just a few kilometres from the Béznar Reservoir.

Their chef has adapted traditional, Spanish dishes to more modern culinary styles. Furthermore, 99% of their dishes are gluten-free (they use rice flour).

With inside and outside seating there are plenty of tables, but being as popular as it is, it is best to make a reservation. There’s even an outside play area with a slide for kids, as well as a swimming pool in the summer.

Turning to accommodation, they have 15 comfortable rooms, all of which have ensuite bathrooms and a balcony so that you can enjoy the view.

Furthermore, right next door, there is also a 5-bedroom, Casa Rural, which you can rent in its entirety (sleeps eleven) or a separate apartment (sleeps four).

This is the perfect place to get to know a little about this beautiful valley, just 30 mins from the coast on the autovía.
