Locals from La Mamola (beyond Castell de Ferro) discovered a dead, baby dolphin washed up onto their beach.
Protección civil cordoned off a small area around the body and informed the marine department that deals with large, beached, marine animals.
The Centro de Recuperación de Especies Marinas Amenazadas, which is based in Cádiz, took charge of the corpse to investigate the possible cause of death.
The authorities remind readers that should they come across a cetacean (dolphin, porpoise, whale) to phone 112 and not to attempt to return it to the sea if it is alive. They will in turn contact the local Town Hall, Guardia Civil and the CREMA.
