Almuñécar & Mozart’s Requiem

The Joven Orquesta Mediterránea begins its season of performances this coming Tuesday, interpreting W.A. Mozart's Requiem Mass, also known as Mass for the Dead.

ALM Joven Orquestra del MediterranoConducted by Michael Thomas, the orchestra will begin its performance at 19.00h on All Saints Day, the 1st of November in Almuñécar’s Casa de la Cultura.

They will be accompanied by the Coro de Ópera de Granada, conducted by Pablo Guerrero with soloists Teresa Villena; (Soprano) Karolina Driemel (Mezzo) Luis Arance (Tenor) and David Mancebón (Baritone).

The Requiem in D minor, K. 626, was part composed by Mozart in late 1791, but it was unfinished at his death on the 5th of December the same year. It was completed in 1792 by his disciple, Franz Xaver Süssmayr, at the request of his widow, Constanze Weber. Count Franz von Walsegg had the piece performed in February 1792 to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of his wife Anna at the age of 20.

This performance by the Joven Orquesta Mediterránea has already caused quite a lot of expectation but tickets are still available in Viajes Eroski (Almuñécar) and at the Casa de la Cultura, itself.
