One of the biggest events in the Axarquía will take place this weekend; none other than the Torre del Mar Airshow from the 9th to the 11th.
Don’t panic as the big day is Sunday, so you haven’t missed it!
Forty-three aircraft supplied by military and civilian participants from four different countries will take part, making it even bigger than the five previous ones.
Yesterday was training day and today, Saturday there will be the Sunset Airshow. Finally, on Sunday, organisers calculate there will be around 300,000 spectators between 11.00h and 14.30h.
There will be military hardware in the form of a Eurofighter to blow your socks off and the aerobatics team, Patrulla Garra and gyrocopters. As for helicopters the Patrulla Aspa will whirl around and whip up some heavy-duty awe.
There will also be a static display of aeromodelling (aircraft models capable of flight) put on by the Club de Aeromodelismo de La Axarquía, which will be set up on the Paseo Marítimo de Poniente.
Right! So where can you park? According to Councillor David Vilches, there will be a free shuttle service between the El Ingenio shopping centre and Torre del Mar, so there should be no problem parking there. There are also provisional parking lots closer to the event.
But whatever you do, stay away from Avenida de Andalucía because there are roadworks there. Best bets, therefore, park at the shopping centre and take the shuttle.
