A reader writes in to explain that a cat desperately needs a home - can anybody help? Leave a response below if you can or know of somebody who might be able to.
Hi Martin,
My partner and I fostered a lovely 6-month-old kitten from the mean city streets and after two years the amazing rescue group we got him from haven’t been able to find a home for him and I am struggling as well.
I have been posting on Facebook groups, putting up posters, contacting animal rescues and charities but haven’t had any luck so wondered if it might be possible to share with the Seaside Gazette. (If this story resonates and you want to write an article to spread the word, I have some great photos and videos I can share.)
He is a blue Burmese, possibly with some Russian blue mixed in there too, either way super hypoallergenic so great for anyone who has mild allergies to cats normally. Although he was starving and sick when rescued he is now healthy with microchip, neutered, vaccinated, wormed and negative for FIV and FELV.
He’s so friendly and loves snuggling up and hanging out with humans which is why we called him Puddle (from the term cuddle puddle). The burmese coat is debated as the softest texture in existence, he purrs loudly which is known to have healing properties and is hilariously playful too, even playing fetch!
He is litter-box trained, not a fussy eater, adapted to indoor cat life and very chilled out except for when around other cats. Part of the reason for the need to find him a forever home is that we have another cat brought with us from the UK when we moved here and have had to take in other fosters desperately in need of care, abandoned kittens, a pregnant mother and a sick feral tomcat and Puddle is stressed out by the sight and smells of them so we have to keep him separated.
He needs to be away from other cats and just with humans who can give him love and attention. He would be an ideal companion for anyone who’s retired and he doesn’t need to have access to outdoor space (in fact that’s better because of his anxiety stemming from being bullied by street cats as an abandoned kitten).
Really hoping you can help,
Thanks so much in advance.
Sophie
