After two years of cancelled celebrations because of Covid, the Salobreña festival of Las Cruces will go ahead between the 30th of April and the 3rd of May.

Of course, there will be a competition to decide the best cross displays within the municipality. The competition will be divided into two categories; those in enclosed areas and those ones in the open air.

There will be a total of 1,200 euros in prize money, divided between the best two entries in each category.

The Área de Fiestas at the Town Hall has explained that the rules for the competition are similar to previous years with the same prizes awarded as those belonging to 2019. In other words, First Prize in the open-air category is 400 euros and the Second Prize, 300 euros. For those in enclosed spaces the top prizes are 300 and 200 euros respectively.

Those who wish to compete have until Thursday the 28th and the decorated crosses must be open to the public from the 30th until the 3rd. Although competitors can open as early as the 29th, that day will not be taken into account.

The competition results will be given out on the 5th of May, having each entry been judged on originality, amount of work required, decoration and the beauty of the cross.
