According to the 112 press release, they received an alert at 16.15h on Monday the 18th requesting assistance as a flyer had crash landed between the Mirador de La Cabra and a parking area near Río Verde.

That is the location description given by 112 but it sounds like between the launching point next to the TV/telephone masts and the landing point which overlooks Cazulas; a large open area used for parking as well (See photo).

The Almuñécar fire service were despatched as well as the Guardia Civil and the  Centro de Control de Tránsito Aéreo and Coordinación y Rescate informed.

The injured flyer was located by a Guardia Civil rescue helicopter in an area of very difficult access so the crew had to use the winch to reach him. Once on board, the victim was flown to the main general hospital in Granada (PTS) with a open-fracture in one of his legs.

No further information concerning the identity of the victim nor his or her injuries has been made known.

Over the period of Easter, the Guardia Civil mountain-rescue team were called out a total of seven times in the province.

Aitor: Yes, you’re right; neither you nor I have done paragliding… but both of us have ridden bicycles, haven’t we.

    Martin.
Actually I know absolutely nothing about paragliding so shouldn’t really pass comment. It would be better of I left it to people who practice the sport and actually know what they are talking about.

Avoidable. Isn’t that like avoidable when collapsing while cycling.??
Everything can be avoidable. But what a boring life.

    Aitor: You think so? Noted.

  5. Aitor says:

    Sad but avoidable
