Easter Heart Attack

Some people find Semana Santa processions very emotional, others have heart attacks, which was the case in the city of Granada on Thursday.

GRA Semana Santa 400x250One of the processions (Concha) was at the doors of the Monasterio de la Concepción in the Plaza de la Concepción just after midnight (in other words, in the early hours of Good Friday) when the cries of alarm went up because a spectator had fallen to the ground and was obviously in trouble.

Fortunately, volunteers from the city’s Protección Civil were to hand to give CPR to the stricken gent for over 40 minutes.

Luckily for the 69-year-old man they were able to revive him and he was whisked off to hospital where he is recovering from his Easter Elapse.

Editorial note: the Civil Protection Volunteer Service, which is made up of volunteers and financed by the state, assists in the coverage of public events, as well as high-risk ones and in emergency & disaster situations.
