The British went to war with Spain because of a severed ear: The War of Jenkin's Ear in 1739, so biting somebody's ear off is serious stuff!

The case of an old-man’s, munched ear in Padul was eagerly taken up by the Public Prosecutor with a recommendation of eight years behind bars for the Nasty Nibbler behind the crime.

The incident occurred in an ice-cream parlour in Padul in June, 2021, when the 52-year-old accused got his teeth into the 89-year-old victim’s ear – is nothing sacred, I hear you mutter, but evidently, somethings are not!

Not content with depriving the gent of part of his lughole, he also punched him several times. Yes, it certainly does make Putin look like Mahatma Gandhi by comparison!

One female customer hid in the toilet because of this aggressive behaviour and the owner of the parlour tried to lock him out but he allegedly broke the glass on the door and one of the windows. Despite having cut himself on the glass when he forced his way in, he started trashing the place.

It was then when the accused went back onto the ice-cream parlour’s terrace and set upon the elderly man. A woman who was sitting on the terrace tried to defend the victim but received several blows for her troubles both in the form of punches and kicks.

Sadly – and here we will tone down the humour – the victim died some months later but the aggressor had nothing to do with it because he was being held in preventative prison (remanded in custody) at the time.

The accused also faces 3,600 euros in fines and will have to cover the damage estimated at 919 euros. The case comes up on the 27th of April in Granada.
