Whilst the Central Government has just announced that it will no longer be necessary to wear masks in interiors from the 19th, the Junta considers it hasty.

The Central Government’s decision means that masks will no longer be necessary in bars, restaurants and shops. However they will still be obligatory in hospitals, medical centres, public transport and in homes fo the elderly.

The Minister for Health for the Junta de Andalucía, Jesús Aguirre, considers the decision to be premature and recommends instead that citizens continue to use them in public, interior spaces.

Bear in mind that the Central Govenment’s decision is only a ‘proposal,’ meaning that it remains for each autonomous region to decide for itself and that the Junta only ‘recommends.’

Minister Aguirre said that he agrees, however that masks in schools should be dropped because it is very necessary for childen to read the facial expressions of their teachers.

Editorial comment: apart from public transport, medical facilities and residencies for the elderly, this means  that it is the choice of individuals whether to wear a mask in public spaces, both inside and out. Do what you most feel comfortable with.
