This coming Wednesday, which is the World Environmental Education Day, Salobreña Town Hall will give out 500 saplings to those who promise to plant them.
The saplings are free and of several species of trees and bushes: poplars, willows, oaks, oleandars and carob trees, which are ideal for our local climate here on the Costa Tropical.
The Councillor for the Environment, Ángela Rodríguez, pointed out that it is not just a case of agreeing to plant these saplings but also committing yourself to looking after them, too.
She pointed out that if you don’t have anywhere to plant a tree, then you should contact the municipal, environmental department and they will allocate a spot.
These saplings come from a batch that was received for the replanting project along the Guadalfeo riverbank but there were quite a few left over… 500 to be exact.
She said that the objective of this campaign was to “improve the ecological connectivity of Salobreña.”
The saplings will be distributed between the 24th and 28th of this month at the Town Hall, or the Casas de Cultura in Lobres and La Caleta.
