The Guardia Civil had to rescue a foreign hiker who had become lost Saturday night in El Paso (La Palma) near the volcanic-eruption, exclusion zone.
The said person was located Sunday morning in good health apart from a couple of scratches.
The police had received a call from the hiker Saturday night to say that he or she was lost in El Paso area.
Consequently, several police patrols were sent out to find the victim. Around 03.00h Sunday morning contact was lost probably because the battery in the victim’s phone had gone flat.
This was when the Grupo de Rescate Especial Intervención en Montaña de la Guardia Civil (GREIM) was despatched and after several hours of searching, the hiker was located with a couple of scratches but otherwise in good health.
The hiker was taken to a medical centre for a check up and allowed to go home.
