The body of a 2-year-old was found in a hotel room in Barcelona on Tuesday night. The father had checked in with the child.

The Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating this “violent death” in the Sants-Montjuïc district of the capital of Cataluña, allegedly at the hands of the estranged father, as the couple are in the midst of separation.

According to the mother, her ex-partner and father of the child had sent a text message that evening with “You will regret this.”

The first to arrive at the scene of the crime were the municipal police, the Guardia Urbana, around 22.30h, followed by an ambulance belonging to the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).

The judge presiding over the night court has placed a gagging order on the investigation.
