Help for Battered Wives

Salobreña Town Hall has reached a deal with the Union Cerrajeros Andaluces de Seguridad where they will change locks, free of charge, for victims of gender violence.

SAL Locksmith Accord over Gender ViolenceThis Andalusian locksmiths entity will do this for any female victim where there is a court order in place. The locksmiths will bear all the expenses involved.

With this accord, Salobreña has become the first municipality in the whole of Andalucía where this free service exists

The Mayor, Mª Eugenia Rufino, expressed her thanks to the Chairman of the UCAS, Juan José Luis Kaseb, as well as Silverio Jiménez Molina, who is the owner of Ferretería Neptuno in Salobreña, for their collaboration.

She pointed out that every measure that has been taken to protect and provide for victims of gender violence remains too little, therefore all administrations should continue working using all their resources to end, once and for all, male-chauvinist violence.

The Chairman said that UCAS wants to help everybody who needs it, especially, by collaborating towards eliminating “this stain upon society,” adding that they are willing to extend this sort of arrangement with other town halls all over Andalucía.

The Unión de Cerrajeros de Andalucía de Seguridad (UCAS) came about with the goal of becoming a “qualified sector, giving users the possibility of identifying [as a member] any locksmith that is called out, thus generating trust that has been lacking in the sector in the past.”
