A group of women was out hiking when suddenly they noticed that one of their number was no longer with them - she had fallen down a barranco.

The incident occurred within the municipality of Huétor Santillán a little before 11.00h. The group had stopped to rest on a bench in the lane along Río Nacimiento.

However, having rested and set out along the said lane they soon realised that the victim was not with them. They quickly back tracked and searched the area where they had sat and saw her 30 metres below at the bottom of a barranco.

They immediately called the 112 emergency number, which despatched Protección Civil, the Guardia Civil and an ambulance. The first to arrive was the former, whose voluteers dug steps into the side of the barranco in order to reach her and bring her out, as she showed no signs of serious injuries, just bruises and scratches.

Upon reaching the track, however, they handed her over to the Guardia Civil rescue team, who had just arrived, so that she could be taken to a medical centre or hospital for a check up.
