A 70-year-old cyclist died on the N-340 next to the Los Pinos roundabout but not in a traffic accident, but apparently from a heart attack.

According to the municipal police, the incident happened a little before 16.00h last Sunday, which was when they received a call alerting them to the presence of the victim lying on the hard shoulder.

When the officers arrived they immediately began CPR procedure, also employing the portable defibrillator in the patrol vehicle. Shortly afterwards the Guardia Civil (Tráfico) and an ambulance arrived.

The CPR was kept up for 25 minutes, assisted by the paramedics from the ALS ambulance which rushed him to Hospital Santa Ana.

Despite all efforts to resuscitate the victim, (Almuñécar resident, B.M.L.) he was pronounced dead shortly after  arrival.
