A thief stole a bag from the inside of a car in Almuñécar and tried to use a bankcard to purchase lottery tickets and other items.
This incident took place on the 11th of this month and resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old suspect with a criminal record.
Fortunately, the local, lottery-ticket seller knew the person whose name figured on the bankcard, so he immediately phoned him.
The victim lost no time in reporting what had happened to the Guardia Civil; somebody had broken into his works van belonging to the company he worked for and where he kept his personal documents. He also cancelled the cards straight away but the thief had already used the card in seven Almuñécar business for amounts that do not require a PIN code.
The police soon discovered that amongst other establishments the same suspect had used the card to pay at a bar next to the ONCE lottery kiosk and questioning witnesses soon had the description of the suspect. In fact, they showed each one mugshots of known ‘bad lads’ and each witness come up with the same person.
