The Policía Nacional are investigating the theft of communication equipment belonging to the lifeguard post for Calahonda beach.
The Head of the lifesaving posts on the said beach and the Carchuna one, David Orihuela, explained that the theft took place in the early hours of one morning at the beginning of the week when the window was forced and the equipment removed from its mounting..
The volunteers manning the post discovered the theft Wednesday morning. Since then, Sr. Orihuela says, it seems that the thieves have been interfering on the lifeguard frequency by playing music or broadcasting a high-pitch hum.
This incident was not the first one involving a lifeguard post because some days ago they found one of the posts standing open and cases for the defibrillators filled with grass. Immediately afterwards the locks were changed.
