The Heredia family reopen the refurbished Cueva, Venta el Gallo, Sacramonte, Granada.
Antonia Heredia, wife of the famous flamenco singer Pepe Luis Carmona Habichuela, has returned after 15 years to the family cave to reopen a business which her late father, Juan Heredia (Juanillo) ran so successfully.
She, along with her two sisters and her mother, have fully restored the large cave and are mounting a female-run business offering the tourist a truly fabulous, quality show along with peace of mind knowing that they are in a secure environment.
Venta El Gallo is set right in the Sacramonte with views of the Alhambra and Generalife and, along with their sister business, Restaurante Casa Juanillo, offers an authentic Gypsy atmosphere soaked in history.
Venta el Gallo is a meeting point for artists and visitors alike; you are likely to be sitting alongside flamenco singers, painters, writers and musicians as you sip your cool beer or rich wine. The artists line up include female and male dancers, singers and musicians headed up by the great dancer, Jara Heredia.
The shows are in the evening. Presently, due to Covid19 restrictions, there is one show at 22.30h but when things relax a little they will be offering three shows a night from 21.00h.
The Venta El Gallo is open during the day for drinks for those who wish to view before they book. Hours are from 12 noon-2pm and 5pm until midnight. The best way to enjoy the daytime visit is to include a reservation at Casa Juanillo for lunch after your visit to the cave.
