According to the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET), there will be plenty of rain and strong wind all along the coast today.
A total of 11 coastal provinces will be affected: Almería, Granada, Cádiz, Málaga, Murcia, Alicante, Ceuta and Melilla.
An Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA), also known as a Gota Fría (Cold Drop) is a high impact rainfall event along the Spanish Mediterranean coast. It appears when a front of very cold polar air, a jet stream, advances slowly over Western Europe and a pocket of cold air detaches from the main jet stream, penetrating to the south over the Pyrenees into the warm air in Spain.
Our reader’s input from La Herradura is an example of what these Gota Frías can sometimes cause.
However, as you won’t be going out… I wouldn’t worry about it 😉
