The Salobreña Public Works Department has had workers out rebuilding a wall in the Plaza del Antiguo Mercado up in the Old Town.
The wall was in a state of disrepair and represent a hazard should it have collapsed, as many people pass by that area. The wall had several cracks in it caused by rain water, amongst other factors.
In fact, the whole wall had to be pulled down and rebuilt from scratch. They’ve paved over the garden at the top that was letting rainwater seep down and through. They have also included a drain within the wall.
This task is one of many included in a general ‘sprucing up’ of the winding alleys and street corners up in this emblematic area of the municipality.
