A grandfather ran over, by mistake, his wife and 21-month-old grandchild, resulting in the death of the latter.

The incident took place on the drive of a house on calle Pozo Alfaro in Ledaña (Cuenca) towards the end of last month when the man accidentally manoeuvered into his 69-year-old wife and the toddler she had in her arms.

The girl was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries later in the week in the ICU of the Hospital General Universitario de Albacete. The grandmother remains seriously injured but in a ward there.

The Mayor of Ledaña (1,600 inhabitants) Clara Plaza, announced that the town would pass three days in mourning, lamenting that there was nothing more that the town could do for the greiving family.
