This tragic item of news from Thursday, near the Paseo Reina Sofía, Almuñécar, escaped our attention.

A 75-year-old foreign woman, who had been an Almuñécar resident for several decades, reportedly jumped from an 11th-storey window and died on the spot.

The incident took place around 10.00h on the 15th  in Edificio Tropicana, which is opposite Playa de Fuente Piedra and next to Las Góndolas.

Passersby at the time reported having heard a cry and a thump and turned to see the body near the ramp for the building’s underground parking. Straight away, witnesses say, a man, thought to be a relative of the victim, ran out of the building shouting.

When the ambulance crew arrived they could do nothing for the woman as she was already dead, but it was necessary to cover the body until the coroner wrote out a death certificate and gave permission for the victim’s body to be taken to the municipal morgue.
