It was four in the morning in Mallorca and it was a certainty that the drunk driver would hit something… and something he did; a police car.

If you drive off the road, or into a tree, or a parked car, it’s bad news… but a Guardia Civil patrol car – that is really bad news.

The accident took place between Portopí and Dique del Oeste in the early hours one weekend. The police car was driving along when suddenly the oncoming car veered across its path and the collision resulted in the drunk driver and the policemen suffering slight injuries.

The police officers were taken to a nearby medical centre by ambulance whilst the culprit was breathalysed by the Policía Local, and lo, he was well over the limit. He was also carted off in an ambulance as his injuries were worse though not serious.

He is now facing charges of drink driving and is going straight to hell.
