A butcher from Argamasilla de Calatrava (Ciudad Real) died on Saturday the 6th after his wife stabbed him. He was buried the next day.

The wife claims that she had turned around suddenly with the knife in her hand and ‘accidentally stabbed 56-year-old, Javier Medina. The victim was attending a customer at the time.

Javier was rushed to the nearby hospital, Santa Bárbara in Puertollano, only six kilometres away, but went into cardiac arrest on the way with attempts at CPR failing, so that he arrived DOA (Dead on Arrival).

Although originally considered a work-place accident, the Guardia Civil are no so convinced and are investigating other possibilities.

Argamasilla de Calatrava is a small town in Castilla-La Mancha with only 6,000 inhabitants, where Javier the butcher was very well known and liked. Besides being a butcher, he was also a member of the municipal brass band.
