Naughty Sister-in-Law

The Guardia Civil in Agüimes (Canary Islands) are investigating a woman who allegedly used her sister-in-law’s identity to request a loan.

The woman, J.O.P., has been charged with identify theft and released pending an appearance before a magistrate.

The victim reported her sister-in-law to the police on the 29th of November, providing documents and even a witness.

The victim became aware of what was happening when she received a letter from a loan company to say that her personal-loan request had been rejected. She lost no time in contacting them as she had made no such request.

The loan company gave her the phone number from which the request had been made, which she recognised as belonging to the suspect.
