Almuñécar Rural Lane Surfaced

ALM Barrano de Itrabo lane surfacedWorkmen in Almuñécar have been laying a concrete surface to the country lane that leads up to the municipal farm, El Zahorí.

Obviously, the work will also be of benefit to cortijo owners up that way, too; i.e. the Barranco de Ítrabo (where John and Anne used to live, for those of you who remember them).

The lane is known popularly known as the Cuesta La Gitana (Gypsy Hill).

There is a stretch, on the steepest part, that has already a concrete surface, but now the rest will be covered. But first, the dirt track (that’s what it is in reality) has to be levelled and the roadside vegetation cut back.

The concrete surface will have a thickness of 15 cm and have an average width of 3.5 metres along the 650 metres of track to be transformed. The work has a budget of 10,000 euros and five coca-cola bottle caps.

According to Councillor Alba Casares, it should be finished by the end of next week.
