Ugly Tourist Info Changes?

ALM Tourist Office La NajaraWork continues, both inside and out, at the Almuñécar Tourist Information Office situated in Avenida Europa at the junction with calle Bikini. It’s the sort of Arabic looking building called Palacete de La Najarra.

Having photographed quite a few weddings in the beautiful gardens that are part of the building, I was rather perturbed to see that some of the reformation work included putting in barred windows into the exterior wall onto Avenida Europa.

It appears that the powers that be have completely missed the idea of a walled garden. Obviously the garden is open to the public, but the walls were a very important part of the whole garden. The huge wall now looks like something from a prison or at best, a zoo.

I used to really enjoy wandering around this garden, but the thought of people staring in just seems wrong and not in keeping with the site at all.

Anyway, it’s all a bit late as the bars are fitted, as you can see by the photo I managed to grab today. It’s not just me, by the way. There were a group of vociferous ladies on the opposite pavement watching the workmen and making their views on the bars very clear.

Next time you pass that way, let us know what you think.
