La Herradura Summer Parking

LHR Summer Parking Area OnLLa Herradura has come up with 800 extra parking spaces for the summer, bringing summer-parking madness to a simmer.

There is a signpost near the new roundabout on the village access road, offering five new parking areas. Admittedly, they’re not on the beach but they’re hardly a 3-day-camel-trek -&-a-packed-lunch away, either.

To start with the Plaza de la Independencia has reopened with its 60 parking slots. Then there’s the empty building plot, Calle Barranquillo where there are another 80. The plant nursery has room for 250 vehicles with the same number available in Peña Parda. Add to those the Barranco las Tejas with another 150 parking spaces then you see where the Town Hall got the “800” figure.

The First Councillor for the village said that it had not been easy reaching an agreement with the landowners. The solution has been that associations like the AECC will be managing the charging at very reasonable prices; around five euros a day.
