Yesterday’s storm didn’t reach the coast but it caused chaos in Granada when a lightning strike knocked out several traffic lights.
The accompanying roll of thunder to the said lightning strike had social media blazing because of its duration, which many described as 5 seconds long.
The lightning struck a building’s lightning conductor near the Science Park and knocked a chunk off the facade. Nobody was hurt. All the nearby traffic lights ceased to function.
As a result the Policía Local had their work cut out for them directing the traffic on seven affected junctions amidst the hailstones and heavy rainfall whilst the fire service were hard put to tackle the flooding.
The following video, by the way, did not occur in Granada that day… but it is good for a chuckle.
