Motril Book Fair

MOT 37 Book FairThe Motril Annual Book Fair (the 37th) will be held at its usual location of Plaza de Aurora from today to the 29th.

The Councillor for Education, Mercedes Sánchez, together with representatives from the schools presented the poster for the XXXVII edición de la Feria del Libro before the gathered press.

The inauguration will take place at 18.00h on Friday the 20th (today) at the Teatro Calderón where the local poet and dramatist, Juan José Cuenca, will deliver in inaugural speech (pregón oficial).

This will be followed at 18.30h by a concert in the Plaza de la Aurora, performed by music students from the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Antonio Lorenzo.

However, before all this, school children, distributed in small groups around town, will read poems, short stories and fairy tales to passers by.

After that there will be a 1,000-school-children parade starting at 11.30h at the Explanadas moving along Avenida Salobreña, Calle Ferrocarril, Plaza del Tranvía, Travesía del colegio, Plaza de los Jardinillos, Calle Zapateros, Calle García Pizarro and Calle Romero Civantos, finishing at the Plaza de España at 12.30h.

As explained above, around 1,000 schoolchildren, aged from 3-years old up to teenagers from Motril schools as well as from ones in Calahonda and Vélez de Benaudalla will participate in the parade.

There will be more children’s activities the next day and every morning of the following week, as well as, of course, the book stalls where you will be able to find, perhaps, something you are looking for?
