The body of a newborn baby was found in a recycling bin in Alhendín. According to the autopsy report, the girl had been born alive and healthy.
The baby also had a head injury, which the pathologist considers was the cause of death. The body also had other fractures.
The discovery was made by the recycling-plant workers inside a bin liner; the umbilical cord had been cut.
The Guardia Civil began their enquiries, looking for clues to the mother’s identity in local hospitals. They have also carried out DNA tests on the rubbish-bag.
Unfortunately, the body was found on the conveyor belt near the last stage of the recycling process so it was too late to know which lorry it had came in on, which would have helped to narrow things down.
