There will be new artificial turf for the Rio Verde football pitch in Almuñécar, thanks to a 160,000 budget. This is the pitch on the northside of the N-340.

Fifty percennt of this sum was approved and granted by the Board of Tourism & Sports belonging to the Junta de Andalucia, so that the Town Hall only has to foot the other 80,000 euros.

The Councillor for Sports, Luis Aragón, explained that they had submitted a request for funds from the Junta back in June. He went on to explain that the Town Hall would now put up a contract for bidding so that a company can be chosen to carry out the task.

The said football pitch, which was inaugurated 14 years ago, has artificial turf, which has deteriorated to such a degree that it urgently needs replacing. The total area is 100 metres by 56.

The pitch has stands that can accomodate 320 spectators, changing rooms and washrooms.
