Castell Race for AECC

ECO AECC RaceThe Provincial Council and the Town Hall have organised a race for all ages with the aim of raising funds for the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC). The I San Silvestre Solidaria fund-raising event will take place on the 17th of December.

The idea was inspired by the high turn out for the recent Carrera de la Mujer de Granada, as well as the increase in athletics in this east-coast town, explained the Provincial Councillor for Sports, Purificación López.

The Mayor of Gualchos-Castell de Ferro, Antonia Antequera, on the other hand, says that the upcoming race already has 150 people with their names down for it. She hopes that the final figure will be around 400.

The race will have two categories: a non-competitive, 2.5km walk, which has no limit on age for state of fitness. At the same time as this first race there is the race, itself which will comprises of two laps around a circuit – a total of five kilometres.

The participation fee is three euros for adult and three euros for children under 12-years old, regardless of whether you participate in the walk or the race. Participants will receive a pack containing a pink scarf or a tootoo.

Todo lo recaudado en las inscripciones se destinará a la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, siendo la cantidad de 5 euros para los adultos y de 3 euros para los menores de 12 años, sin distinción de que se participe en la carrera o en la marcha, as well as the AECC volunteers.

Both parts of the event are not against the clock but the first three over the line, in both women’s and men’s categories, will receive a trophy. The best fancy dress will also received a prize.
