A man from Novelda (Alicante) allegedly kept his Romanian ex-partner prisoner for six months in a house without electricity and other basic necessities.
The 40-year-old man visited her from time to time to bring her food and on very rare occasions, allowing her out, closely guarded so that she could not escape or communicate with other people.
She had moved house to Alginet, trying to distance herself from her ex partner in April after he had scaled a wall and accessed her flat after breaking a window. Despite having a court order against him, which led to his arrest.
The judge had ordered his release pending trial. However, no sooner free he tracked her down, kidnapped her and took her to Novelda, thus began her six-month ordeal.
The Guardia Civil were tipped off on the 22nd of December about a woman being held against her will in a flat. The police raided the address and released the woman. Amazingly, a new judge released him yet again, pending trial.
The man has a wife and kids.
