The ‘booty’ consisted of 100 kilos of tomatoes, 50 kilos of peppers, 260 kilos of mangoes, 15 kilos of onions, 10 kilos of green beans and 20 kilos of garlic, mandarins, eggplant and other products.
The police point out that vendors at the Sunday markets can only sell 2nd-hand or handicraft items. It is strictly forbidden to sell perishable goods.
Editorial comment: we can only hope that this food is handed over straight away to the local food bank for distribution amongst the needy. It would be inexcusable should it end up elsewhere…
