It’s not only the weather that gives the sensation of the summer lingering, because this lack of rain is also prolonging the fire season.
The INFOCA crews had to tackle a small fire in Tahá, up in the Alpujarra, on Tuesday the 1st, and when we say small, we mean that it was around a quarter of a hectare in extension.
The alert went out at 12.00h about a fire in a barranco on the road between Almegíjar and Trevélez; more precisely in the area known as the Carihuela de Ferreirola, between Cástaraz and Busquistar.
Two fire trucks and 16 firefighters, backed up by two aircraft, pinned the fire down and stopped it spreading so that only 0.28 hectares of mountain shrub was affected. The fire was declared ‘out’ on the same day at 16.02h.
