Granada Jazz Festival

gra-jazz-festival-2016From the 3rd to the 12th of November, Granada will hold its XXXVII Festival Internacional de Jazz in the Teatro Isabel la Católica.

One of the top names San Francisco Jazz Collective, which is considered within the aristocracy of the Jazz world. Another top name is Terence Blanchard.

But it doesn’t stop on the 12th, because there will other venues around the city with more Jazz performances, such as in the Centro García Lorca on the 17th with Domestic Jazz Collective, with Erik Truffaz as invited musician.

The Festival Internacional de Jazz de Granada opens on the 3rd with the singer/Trumpet player/Saxophonist, Andrea Motis and the Double Bass/Saxophonist Joan Chamorro.

On Friday the 4th, Terence Blanchard, who holds five Grammys, will present his latest supporting line up, E-Collective,as well as his latest album, Breathless.

On Saturday the 6th the winning works entered for traditional festival competition will be made known and performed the the cultural association, Ool-Ya-Koo.

The next performance will be on Thursday the 10th at the hands of the British trio, GoGo Penguin, who are the ‘revelation’ of the moment and who have not stopped picking up awards.

On Friday the 11th, Dhafer Yousseff, will present his latest work, Diwam of Beauty and Odd, backed by some of the most innovative musicians from the New York scene : Aaron Parks, Ben Williams and Justin Faulkner.

The main festival will wind up on the 12th in the Teatro Isabel La Católica with the`San Francisco Jazz Collective, which was founded by Randall Kline and Joshua Redman. Just some of the musician playing or having played in this formation are Eric Harland, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Bobby Hutcherson, Avishai Cohen, Dave Douglas, Nicholas Payton, Joe Lovano and Brian Blade
